Earth System Governance Project

The Earth System Governance Project was established in October 2008 by the International Programme on the human dimensions of global environmental change. Earth system governance is defined as:

... States and the more integrated system of formal and informal rules, regulatory systems, and actor-networks at all levels of human society (from local to global) that are in place to manage the community to prevent, mitigate and adapt to global environmental change and local, and above-ground processing system within the legislative framework of sustainable development.

System of Government land is a long-term, interdisciplinary project of the social sciences. Governance system of the land is a matter of social science research that includes a variety of disciplines including political science, sociology, economics, ecology, policy studies, geography, sustainability, the law. It spans the whole planet, because:

A similar project, Global Governance Project is a joint research program with twelve European research institutions that aims to promote understanding of new actors, institutions and mechanisms of global governance. Then they discuss the phenomenon of global governance in general, most research focuses on global environmental change and governance for sustainable development.
