Climate Action Network (CAN)

Climate Action Network (CAN) is an umbrella group of nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) working on the issue of  climate change. It is most active in the meetings of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which publishes a daily newsletter "ECO" , which presents the views of the green NGO community.

Network for Climate Action (RAC) is a global network of more than 700 nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) in 95 countries working to promote government and individual action to limit anthropogenic climate change to ecologically sustainable levels.

Members can work towards this goal through the coordination of information exchange and NGO strategy on international, regional and national climate. CAN has seven regional offices, which coordinate the efforts in Africa, Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America, North America, South Asia and South Asia.

CAN members a high priority for a healthy environment and development that "meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs" (Brundtland Commission). The vision of the Network for Climate Action is to protect the atmosphere, while allowing the sustainable and equitable global development.
