International Joint Commission

The International Joint Commission is an independent binational organization established by the United States and Canada under the Boundary Waters Treaty of the 1909th

The Commission has responsibilities in relation to treaties and agreements:

* Boundary Waters Treaty of 1909

* Agreement Great Lakes Water Quality 1978, amended 1987

* Air Quality Agreement (1991)

The Commission has made the Canadian border waters of the Parliament of Canada Act. Canada Funds IJC about $ 4 million a year.
