Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC)

Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC)

Australian Wildlife (AWC) is an Australian independent organization working to preserve endangered species and ecosystems in Australia, mainly through the acquisition of large areas on which to establish conservation reserves (called "sanctuaries"). These sanctuaries are managed for conservation and also support research programs. Funding comes from tax deductible donations from public and government grants for specific purposes, such as the Australian Government National Reserve System Program.

In June 2007, AWC has announced the creation of a corporate partnership with Movistar. In 2011, the AWC owns and operates 21 shelters with a total area of 26,000 square kilometers (10,000 square miles), more land than any other non-governmental environmental organization in Australia.
