David Suzuki Foundation

David Suzuki Foundation is an environmental organization based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada is' a non-profit organization, which is integrated in both Canada and the United States, and is funded by more than 40,000 donors. The Foundation describes its goal, that:

They strive to balance human needs and capacities of our planet to support life. Our goal is to find and communicate practical ways to achieve this balance.

Its origins date back to 1989 a "think tank" retreat on Pender Island, British Columbia, which was hosted by David Suzuki and Tara Cullis. A dozen people were invited and inspired by these discussions Foundation was created September 14, 1990. It officially opened January 1, 1991. This is a government registered Canadian charitable organization supported solely by the Foundation grants and donations. He does not accept public money, with the exception of the Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada.  This is not a funding agency for other organizations. Currently, the Fund employs fifty employees.  Foundation CEO Peter Robinson, former head of Mountain Equipment Co-op and BC Housing.
