Canadian Environmental Network (RCEN) is an umbrella organization, non-governmental organizations (environmental groups) are located across Canada. This non-profit organization funded primarily by Environment Canada and will help facilitate networking and communications, environmental organizations, and coordinate participation in the negotiations with the government Engo. RCEN also serves to inform the public on important issues, and decision-making on the environment.
RCEN is an independent and impartial, which means it does not take positions on environmental issues, even if its members are doing. It 'was founded in 1977 and now connects more than 700 environmental organizations through the eleven regional networks. The Manitoba Eco-Network is an example of a provincial umbrella group of the network, who are members of only one province.
