Interamerican Association for Environmental Defense
The American Association for the Defence of the Environment (in Spanish: Asociación Internacional para la Defensa del Ambiente Americana) (AIDA) is a non-profit international law environment founded in 1996 by a collaboration of five environmental organizations America, including Earthjustice.
AIDA is based in Oakland, California. The organization works with international partners in many countries, including Argentina, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Mexico and Peru .
AIDA is primarily to improve and protect human health and the environment. Fence, the most significant work was in La Oroya, Peru, where they struggled to poison the local population of heavy metals and other contaminants generated by the local foundry. AIDA has also had a significant impact to protect the leatherback turtle in Costa Rica through a partnership with Cedarena.
