Green Cross International environmental organization founded the former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in 1993, using the work started in 1992 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Mission  Green Cross International is to "help ensure a fair, sustainable and secure future for all, promoting the value of change, and growing a new kind of global interdependence and shared responsibility of man's relationship with nature ". The organization publishes a newsletter, and also released the publication entitled "Antarctica: Global Warning .." ]Thirty-one states have established Green Cross national organizations that are part of Green Cross International.
