FERN (Stichting FERN)

FERN (FERN Stichting) is a Dutch foundation established in 1995. This is a nongovernmental organization to track the participation of EU forests and to coordinate NGO activities at European level. Through their work, FERN aims to increase opportunities for economic and political people to create a more just society where human rights are fully respected and environmental and social values ​​are fully integrated.

FERN is well known for his work on forests since 2000, FERN has expanded beyond the forests to include work on issues of aid, trade and the general climate, as most of the decisions in these areas has a direct or indirect impact on forests and forest peoples' rights. FERN campaigns fall into the following five areas: climate change, development, rights of forest peoples, forests and biodiversity, and trade and investment. In all these areas. FERN works very closely with a wide range of environmental groups and social movements around the world

FERN is a non-hierarchical. Currently, the organization has three offices (Brussels, Belgium, Moreton-in-Marsh, United Kingdom, and Leiden, Netherlands) and eleven offices.

FERN a formal mission statement describes the organization and its aims thus:. FERN works to achieve greater social and environmental justice, focusing on forests and the rights of forest peoples in the policies and practices of the European Union.
