Conservation International (CI)

Conservation International (CI) is a nonprofit organization based in Arlington, Virginia, whose aim is to ensure the health of mankind by protecting ecosystems and biodiversity of the Earth . CI's work focuses on six key initiatives that affect the well-being: the climate, food security, safety, drinking water, health, cultural services and the contribution of the species. The group is also known for its partnerships with NGOs and indigenous peoples.

CI was founded in 1987, Spencer Beebe and Peter Seligmann, and now has a staff of over 900 employees. The work takes place in over 45 countries, mainly in developing countries of Africa and Madagascar, Asia and the Pacific, Central and South American rainforests.
