The World Land Trust (formerly the World Wide Conservation Land Trust) is a UK-based nonprofit the built environment in 1989. Its main objectives are the conservation of plants, animals and natural communities in areas at risk. To this end, private funds for the purchase of large tracts of land by local NGOs in order to protect in a manner similar to the conservation of nature, using land trusts. The organization also tries to help in situ conservation measures through training, capital and equipment for environmental management in economically backward countries. The World Land Trust proposes to offset the carbon emissions from individuals and businesses . Is affiliated with the World Conservation Union. With the WMU, which co-organized the first symposium on private nature reserves for conservation, the name of the acquisition of land as an intervention strategy for biodiversity conservation in 2006.
